Happy Friday: grey jeans!

Happy Friday!

Eventually I found a pair of grey jeans! Grey is not as sharp as white, black or even ink color, but it gives a nice transition from winter dark colors to summer white!

I restyled this Vince cocoon sweater cardigan today (winter pairing with leggings and boots here). With a pair of light colored jeans and cut-off mary jane pumps, I hope this look is more spring-like. Dear fabby readers, what is your way to create a spring look, using those pieces you buy for fall or winter? If you want to share your ideas, please email us your pictures (head-to-toes, or putting clothes, shoes together) to lovefabbylife@gmail.com.

A brief review of this grey Gap always skinny jeans:

1. Fabric can be different in differnt colors. I find that white ones are very stiff, while grey ones are soft!

2. Color dyeing can be different. The color is even for this grey pair, but my previous buy of fuchsia jeans did not have an even dye (I returned for this reason).

3. Size is different. White ones run smaller/tighter than other colors. I buy this grey pair at 25/0. By the way, the SA in jeans department (from Saks) told me that it is better buy skinny jeans with one size up and get waist trimmed by tailors … unless you have killer legs! This rule works for me!

Overall, I am happy at the fit, color and price of this pair, and will keep it (already wore it today!)

Gustav Klimt Bedtime Portraits

The second graders investigated the life and works of Gustav Klimt. They were astonished by how he used real gold in his paintings and inspired by his spirit! We imagined tucking ourselves under luxurious quilts made by Gustav Klimt when we sleep at night. Notice all the creative patterns and lines made with black markers and metallic liquid watercolors.

Pompili pumps: purple!

My Pompili shoes, ordered from YOOX (mentioned in this entry), came yesterday!

A brief review:

Size: runs slightly large, 1/4-1/2 size. I ordered my normal size, 6; they are slightly large on me, but still can handle them. Michelle normally wears 7.5, and she got this pair at size 7 (she has narrow feet).

Color: Pretty purple with black cap and trim. Not very eye catchy, because you won’t see a large piece of purple from top!

Comfy level: I will give 5 star so far! Heel is about 2 inches, not 2.75” as described. Shoes are light-weight.

Quality: Leather upper and in sole. Heel is covered by black leather. The lining is fabric. Rubber sole. Made in Italy.

Overall feeling: it is definitely worth $59! Now YOOX has free shipping for purchase >$200. My co-workers and I placed a group order yesterday….. I ordered another pair of flats from Pompili (crazy? I would get rid of all my Tory Burch flats. They are hurting my feet!).

Here is the link for Pompili pumps.

Black and Leopard print : Anne Fontaine black ruffle shirt

Happy Wednesday! Temperature bounces back to 65F today, and it is perfect for shirt & skirt. See ruffles? – that I never can resist! Continue with an episode in Anne Fontaine.

All black today, with leopard print shoes and belt. Whenever I include ruffles in my outfit, I try to keep colors simple – to avoid a busy or teenage look. By the way, today is warmer than I though, I did not get a chance to put on my grey cropped jacket~

Anne Fontaine ruffle shirt & Salvatore Ferragamo Varina Flats: black, grey and white

These days are hectic. In the past 12 years in the states, we relocated at least 3 times. But all those were before Nathan and owing a house. We had a house showing last Sunday morning, 10 am. Nathan and I had to “wonder around”, because nowhere opens that early in Sunday 😦 . Probably I need to take some vacation, relaxing ……I will schedule a trip to Texas in April.

Whenever I don’t know what to wear, my hands reach Anne Fontaine shirts. Another outfit only has black and white. Since it is only 37F in the morning, I layered a wool sweater cardigan between the shirt and leather jacket (not shown in the pictures).

The black patent leather caps of my flats match the coated jeans, both of which are glossy~

39F, back to winter-like days : Honey & Brown combo

It was unbelievably chilling this morning!

Pictures are blur today, because my boy claimed that it was too cold to hold the iPhone stably 🙂 — everyone was spoiled by the unseasonal warmth! No matter how cold it is, I think it is the time to wear pumps (rather than boots!). I love to pair boots with shorts or short skirts, but always feel boots are too “heavy” for Spring~

Recently, I fall in love with shoes with multi-colors, which have an advantage of pair with different tights or skirts: This pair of Chie Mihara optimo, is brown with black trim. It works with both black and brown tights. Well, it might be hard to find out from bad quality pictures that my tights are brown.

So called “nude” makeup. The easiest way to do a nude makeup is to skip some unnecessary steps. Wear foundation close to your skin tone (neither too fair nor too tan), and brush on blush lightly. For me, I skip eye shadows, liners or even mascara (like today), but have to define my eye brows. Then a thin layer of loose powder to finish. Everyone has her own focus and needs. For example Michelle, she always wear eyeliner, but she skips eye brows….. Skip unnecessary steps not only saves time but also give a “NUDE” look ~~ wanna try?

I bought this as an oil-free primer, and it does its work to me. It is good for my combination skin, and doesn’t cause any break out in the T zone.  I also like the natural coverage, which can be used as a tinted moisturizer. I don’t mind its fragrance, which is actually pretty pleasant to me. I bought the #2 shade “Nude”, which is okay for me (especially summer time); I might try #1 next time. If you like a glowing and healthy look, definitely try #2!

It is very good, air-light, no breaking out, pleasant smell and seamless glowing in a good way! But it doesn’t have strong coverage (concealer might be needed). Together with a thin layer of loose powder, the makeup lasts all day long. Well, as a foundation, it is insanely expensive. It is not fair to say this one is better than Dior Nude. I used at least 3 bottles of Dior Nude (#23, peach) so far, and the reason I switched to by Terry is I wanna try new things :). I use by Terry plumping fluid foundation #4 (golden praline), which is a little bit darker (or golden?) than Dior Nude #23. Sometime I mixed them together at 1:1, which gave perfect shade! However, both of them work wonderfully.

It is a great concealer, way better than YSL Touche Eclat! Thanks to its light weight (but full coverage!), it doesn’t crease at all! I don’t have dark circles, but from reviews, this concealer is extremely good for dark circle coverage. I use shade #2, cream.

It lasts definitely longer than most lip gloss. After drinking starbucks and kissing my son many many times, I still had the color and gloss! No-drying, not sticky at all! It is the best lip stain (with glossy shine) I ever had! Strongly recommend! I use shade #6 Camel Croisiere , slightly orange tone.

The Naked2 has several nice matte shades (especially the highlight for under brow area), and even shimmery shadows are not over the top! My Naked 1 and 2 work well together! From over 1000 reviews (and close to 5 star overall review!), you will know it is a good product!

Here is a silly iPhone picture showing my simple makeup: by Terry & Dior mixed foundation + eye brow + Nars blush (sin) + YSL lip stain

About 5 hours later (I drank coffee, milk and water… kissed my son’s cheek…. and took a nap) — color is still there with gloss 🙂 (ignore my dry patches)
