Pink & Black: weather cools down

When our schedule for the upcoming long weekend heats up,  the weather cools down! A jacket or warm scarf is necessary for the morning and during the evening. It is actually my favorite time in a year (very short in the northeast), that I can wear thick textured shorts and skirts with bare legs, or wrap a scarf over a t-shirt.

We are going to spend this long weekend at NYC, enjoying museums, toy stores (super toysrus and FAO), food and meeting with my dear girl friends! For all of you who plan to travel, I hope you have a safe trip and great weekend!

Washed Denim Chambray Buttondown & New Chanel Black Caviar Purse

I   first purchased the washed chambray shirt from a local Anthro Store, Xs was only available size at that time.  After I tried it with something underneath at home I decided to return it. It was little small for me. But I still in love with this shirt, the color and style  and the softness of the fabric.

Tow weeks later, I found this similar one from Nordstrom, the size is Small and it was on sale for $49.99. Anthropologie  has almost identical one available Here.  The cut is incredibly flattering and the fabric is Super soft. I foresee this shirt being incredibly versatile in my wardrobe! The only drawback is that threads get stuck around the buttons. But it didn’t make me not want the shirt.

This Chanel bag  was a recent ” Bank Damage”. It was a first sight love, to avoid a impulse purchase, I asked the sales to hold the bag for me. After one  day careful consideration, I decided to take her back. Perhaps, I were looking for a black classic bag for long time, eventually I luckily got this one. It has classic Chanel look, but has it own character.

By the way, I am going to visit NYC/NJ and Boston this Saturday, can not wait to meet my dear friends Yuan and Michelle. I will try to update about my trip as frequently as I can.

Salvatore Ferragamo beige patent leather pumps (quick review)

(first picture taken by our new lens, Nikon 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6)

In my quest for a pair of nude pumps (good quality, comfy, and classic), I came across four options after months of research, online and in-store trying.

#1. Salvatore Ferragamo vara pumps  — My final choice

Pro: Reasonable price $395, and SF participates gift card events at Saks Fifth Avenue (most of big name designer shoes are not eligible for gift card giving). I already own several pairs of vara pumps, so I know they are comfy! Style is timeless, good for dressing up or dressing down. Though it is patent leather, but it is not stiff at all. It is true to size.

Con: They are not nude. Options are either beige (a little bit yellowish) or bisque (too pinkish?).

#2. Jimmy Choo point toe pumps — will buy if they are on sale

Pro: Very soft leather and comfy! I tried this pair every time I saw it, and I am sure it will be comfy throughout of a day. Point toe shoes are back to be a trend!

Con: Jimmy Choo does not participate any events in SAF! Pointed shoes are hopelessly out of style for more than 10 years, so the question is how long pointed pumps can stay in style this time? At this price, I would like to invest some timeless piece.

#3. Christian Louboutin prorata patent leather pumps — on my shopping list, love it!

Pro: 3 1/2” heel with 1/2” platform makes this pair comfy! It is so chic! CL pumps definitely bright up any outfits!

Con: This pair is a splurge! I would like buy them as a birthday gift or holiday gift. It is too good to be worn daily.

#4. L.K. Bennett maddox wedge pumps (Nude is available in store)

Pro: Price is not steep, and wedge is relatively comfy compared to the same height heel. I tried them in store, and found them fit my foot well. Made in Spain.

Con: I don’t really like the raffia wedge. Is raffia okay to be soaked in water? In addition, I concern the microfiber lining (prefer to a leather lining).

Eventually, I chose SF vara pumps. What is your thought?

By the way, can you believe it was below 60F this morning here in Boston?

Cape cod: water & sand fun

(DVF silk top + Rich & Skinny shorts)

I always feel weekends are too short, and dream a 4-day weekend instead :-). It is dry and hot today, so we decided to have some water & sand fun @ cape cod……

Sunlight, sea, sand, friends and happy kids…… what a happy Sunday afternoon!

Color block sandals from Arche

(Thank LY for sharing her new buy with us, Arche lyve sandals)

(borrow the picture from Arche website)

LY and I visited Arche boutique on Newbury st. this afternoon, and she took this gorgeous pair home! As all other Arche shoes, this pair has great arch support and is very comfy for its 3.75” heel! She wore them shopping all afternoon today! Just FYI, they are true to size.

Anthropologie Ganni Green dress & Floral scarf and wedge

This green Ganni dress one me is part of the spring collection from Anthropologie.  I am very fond of this type of  fabric  – thick cotton with elastane – since  it is comfortable and easy to care  (no dry clean is needed and it will never get wrinkled).   In the Ganni’s Fall collection, there are one dress and two tops were made in the same fabric. All of these are extremely adorable.  I especially like the Peplum Ponte Tank, and I highly recommend it.  You can click on the link and see if it is your cup of tea.

The bright floral scarf was from J Crew.  I bought it because  it matches well with so many of my clothes/collections.  It adds colors to any outfit. It is simply splendid in spring and summer time.  It might be a little too “cheerful” for autumn and winter, but again, it depends on personal taste.

Well, It’s Saturday again, I wish everyone have a relaxed weekend, and enjoy the activities in cool breeze and outdoor concerts on green lawns in the late summer.
