100% wool Fedora by Kirna Zabete for Target

Drop a quick hello and share my new purchase – a fedora (felt hat) by Kirna Zabete for Target. It fits well on me and the kiss print gives this fedora a feminine feel. It is made with 100% wool, and doesn’t look cheap. Price in store (50% off) is cheaper than that online.

Thank you for your reading. If you live in the northeast, stay dry and play safe!

Soft brown: from head to toes

(Nikon D800, 50mm/f1.4G)
Happy Saturday, all! Apparently, I don’t want to take off my new vera wang boots at all. The 4” heels are wearable, in which I walked around all day today (I am about 5’8 in them, lol). Check my short review of these boots in a previous entry. To prepare for the hurricane Sandy, I took my lamb fur vest with me today. The temperature did drop later this afternoon!

This fall, I love scarves in rich colors! How pretty these scarves are!

There are always people waiting in line outside the door of Georgetown cupcake. I could not resist these delicious cupcakes… So, my boys waited in line, while I quickly checked the neighboring DVF store :). BTW, sale is ongoing in DVF (online sale price seems to be same as that in store).

Thank you for your reading, and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Review: by Terry ligne blackstar liquid eyeliner

Hi all! Here is a quick review of by Terry ligne blackstar liquid eyeliner. This is the only eyeliner that doesn’t smudge on my lids! It takes me from the office to the dinner with no dramas. It is just like a temporary tattoo! This eyeliner goes beautifully without any dragging and gives just right amount of color. Some reviews on the makeup alley mentioned that it could be short-lived; I only have it for a week, but so far it delivers ink to the tip fluently.  Slightly pricey, $43, but it is worth every penny. I choose the color called “bamboo brown” (like khaki color).  The below is a short video for this semi-permanent marker

Thank you for your reading, and have a wonderful weekend!

Standing tall with Vera Wang Eldora suede boots

(Nikon D800, 85mm / f 1.8G; shot at 8am and stood in shade)

Happy Thursday, all! Thursday is my favorite day in a week, because I can see the end – weekend!

I have been looking for brown boots for a while, and eventually I got this pair, Vera Wang Lavender Label Eldora (still available on 6pm), from our local runway Tjmaxx! These classic wedge boots are made with suede silhouette and features with exposed zippers. Though this pair is the last year version, it doesn’t seem to be out of style. The chocolate brown is incredibly soft and couples well with fall and winter colors. The 4” wedge heel lets me stand tall and seems to be wearable (I wore them all day today!). It is true to size, but I feel more comfy with half size up.

My recent purchase of All Saints ridley leggings also seems to be great. Thick cotton texture not only keeps me warm but also provides a great support / lift of the butt and thighs! Though the leggings have a low rise, they don’t slip down. I may take a grey pair back home this weekend!

JCrew Teddie dress: different ways to wear

(nikon D800, 85mm / f1.8 G; early afternoon)

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

I had some fun of wearing JCrew Teddie dress in two different ways today, and would like to share them with you here. This classic dress was bought as a professional attire (wore it here and here) early this year. Working in a university laboratory, this dress seems to be a little bit too formal… I had two different solutions cross my mind today: 1. wear a wide belt to to make this look less formal; 2. tuck it in to convert it to a “peplum” top.
a wide belt (JCrew) + a red skull scarf (Alexander McQueen)
“peplum” like top + all saints ridley leggings

All Saints, a very unique store. There is a good selection of leather jackets and pants at affordable prices. I picked a pair of biking leggings, which is made by heavy cotton.
Thank you for your reading and have a great start of the new week!

photography: it is still hard for us to take relatively good pictures in the early afternoon, when the light is too hard~

Celine mini luggage & Goyard totes – window shopping

Happy Saturday! I could not ask for better weather, 73F and sunny at the end of Oct. in Boston! As the parents of a kindergarden boy, our weekend mornings are pretty busy: ice skating, swimming, music, etc. Some he really enjoys, while the others are what we request him to do – that is the life, full of compromises. The afternoon is always my favorite time, strolling and shopping! I was asked about the availability of Celine mini luggage recently, so I checked our local stores (New York Barneys and Saks Fifth Avenue in Boston Copley) today. SAs told me that the solid color ones went really fast ($2400), and normally they only had one or two in stock. New York Barneys (bag department) receives their shipment every Tuesday. Tricolor mini luggage is $2650 currently.
Goyard bags seem to be hot recently, and many celebrities are spotted wearing this brand!

Does this one remind you the Cambridge satchel? The shoulder strap could be adjusted, and the quality seems to be great! It is $2200.

Casual & Vintage inspired "Madewell" Outfit

The outfit was inspired by one of the outfit on Madewell flyer. I don’t have a pair of super long legs like her, so I picked a dark chocolate color pantyhose instead of pink. I also put the belt over the cardigan, it gives me a better waist line, and makes me look taller.
