Drop a quick update of my new toy, a compact Leica D-LUX 6 camera, which finally arrived today! It will be an addition of contents in my bag. Will take some pictures with it this weekend, and share my experience of it here!

A blizzard is expected here with 2 ft snow! For those who live in the northeast, stay warm and play safe!

My cold weather solution I: leather pants, jacket and down coat!

Down jacket: Theory
Leather jacket: Vince (here)
Leather pants: Theory ima leggings (online sale here)
Boots: Proenza Schouler
Gloves: Saks Fifth Avenue
Fox fur scarf: Adrienne Landau (style for 2012 sale here)

Temperatures in Boston go from extremely cold to extremely colder this week! A small single digit showed up on my thermometer this morning. It says on the weather website that the temperature may reach negative 9F with windchill. My choice for such an extreme weather is wearing the combination of leather and down jacket.
Top = 3 layers
1. Club Monaco wool/cashmere blend Julie turtleneck (sale @ $29 here, and my review here)
2. Vince crewneck leather jacket
3. Theory down jacket
Bottom = leather pants & boots (my review in a previous post)
Accessories = fox fur scarf + leather / cashmere gloves

Layering a leather jacket or fur vest underneath a coat is the best way to keep yourself warm in an extreme cold weather, especilly in windy days. Leather can make an unpenetrable wall to the weather, which is the reason that bikers and motocyclists always wear leather jackets. Since modern leather jackets mostly have slim fit, you can definitely avoid a bulky look even wear several layers. Same principle applies to leather pants, which do a better job to combat the cold weather than jeans.

Share a pair of booties that my girl friend picked (more information of the booties available here).

The look I like…

Happy Monday! Drop a quick hello. Share you couple pictures from the last Sunday. It was sunny and relatively warm. This is the look for grocery and a stroll in the mall.
Instead of pairing with flare leg jeans (style here), I paired this cropped vest with skinny jeans and wedge boots (same style in black here; grey here).

Club Monaco light weight turtleneck sweaters SALE $29

My new buys of light weight sweaters from Club Monaco. They are on sale at $29, and I got 5 different colors! Living in the east coast, I find light weight sweaters are super useful in winter days, providing extra warm without the bulk.
They are made with 65% wool, 5% cashmere and 30% polyester. Hand wash is required. They come in scoop neck, color block turtle neck, and solid color turtleneck (the texture looks different online for these solid color turtleneck tops, and I think it an error. My solid color tops show the wool/cashmere/polyester texture as the other styles).

You also can wear them alone. Borrow some pictures…
I prefer solid colors and find color block and flowery tops are hard to wear. I would not say it runs small, but I do buy one size up. They are stretchable. As wardrobe basics, they function similar as those from Vince (here or here) while cost a fraction of the price. Some of my pricey basic tops were worn after certain washes. So I picked 5 colors this time, and hopefully they can last couple seasons.

My mom and I took Allison to the Beachwood Mall today, I purchased this skirt I were really in love. I paired the skirt with two different denim top as soon as I got home. Which look  do you like the most?

For your reference, Size 00 fits me perfectly, it does run big.

Denim Top: Banana Republic (first) & Forever 21(second)

Sand and water fun @ 4th: white tee & silk skirt

We had a fun 4th today, and I hope all of you did as well! If you take a long weekend, I hope you have a great time in the rest of days!

After the rain stopped this morning, we went to Castle Island. Though it was super super super hot (what else can be better than a white tee in such a hot day?), the coastal water is still chilling – I don’t think I am brave enough to swim in the sea here – had some water & sand fun instead. Kids were very happy at the water & sand play 🙂

Digital perm @ Boston AND Zara boy blazer

Eventually I permed my hair  @ Defi Japanese hair salon. It took me about 3 hours today, including cut, relaxing massage and perm. The experience was great, as last time! They explained carefully to me how to dry and style at home! I will definitely come back!

Tee: Club Monaco

Scarf: Alexander McQueen

Bag: Longchamp

I stopped by the Zara store on Newbury st. today, and found this scarf (see here) not bad! I plan to use it as a bikini beach wrap (like this)~~ but now, it is a scarf for me! It matches my navy tee pretty well.

The main purpose of stopping by Zara was to find a blazer for Nathan, and here it is~~~~I am sold to Zara kids clothes now!
