JCrew Fair Isle sweater with biker leggings (and NM consolidation sale…)

J.Crew fair isle cashmere sweater (sale here)

As suggested by J.Crew catalog, I wore black pants with my new luxury green cashmere sweater today. Black apparently makes this sweater more stand out! After couple wears, I think this sweater worth every penny it asks for. It is way thicker than all other cashmere sweaters in my closet, and doesn’t get fuzz balls easily! You won’t regret having it if you live in a cold place, as me.

All Saints Ridley leggings (here)

When static electricity gets annoying (in dry winter days), I prefer heavy cotton leggings over nylon ones. My trusty cotton/modal leggings are made by AllSaints. The heavy cotton blend jersey gives great butt lift and thigh control. The paneled design is great with biker or riding boots. After dozens of wash, the color is still as new, and fitting doesn’t change. I wear UK6/US2 (for your reference, my jeans size is 25).

Neiman Marcus consolidation sale (in store only) started today. Most of sale items got a second or even third price cut, plus an additional 25% off~ However, all sales are final. I took home two sweaters.

1. Rag and Bone chunky sweater (available online here). It was $495, and is $129.75 (item number 96817312). I bought size small, which was slightly roomy. The red leather jeans I tried in the below picture is made by Joe’s (different color here), and is on sale around $200.

2. Vince boatneck sweater (online available here and here). It was $285, and is $128.25 (item number 822508027743).

There are Vince V-back cashmere sweater (I wore here) sale at $64 and Vince shrunken turtleneck sweater (same here, in olive and navy) sale at $78. A great selection of jeans are sale at a price around $50. In addition, I tried several shirts (DG, Ralph Lauren, etc.) and a Gucci wool dress (was $1400, is $362) on the premier designer sale rack. However, my size is not available… I should have not worked till 7 today.

Thank you for your reading and have a good weekend!

My cold weather solution II: Theory ima suede pants, Vera Wang boots and fur vest

Vera Wang Eldora boots (buy here, and my review here)
Theory ima stretch suede leggings  (RED here , DARK BROWN here)

Happy Friday everyone! When the cold weather swept the northeast, nothing was more important than an outfit that kept me warm.

After being spoiled by the Theory ima leather pants (as a previous post here) for continuous three days, I decided to invest another pair, the dark brown stretch suede. You can definitely feel the difference (the penetration of the cold and wind) between leather pants and thick jeans. Price wise, these suede leggings are on sale at $171 in Theory outlet stores now, which is actually similar as full price jeans.

I was asked about the size of the leather leggings by Theory. Though SAs / websites suggest size down to get a better fit, I sized up for both pairs. I tried size 00, 0, 2 and 4. To my surprise, I can wear all of these sizes! Size 00 is tight on me like leggings, but still comfy. Size 4 is slightly wide for my thigh and waist, but doesn’t look odd or slipper down. Leather (especially suede) is normally stretched out overtime, I feel size 0 and 2 should be similar on me eventually. Unless you want a pair of body-hugging leggings, you may not want to size down for this particular style. There are 5 choice for this style in the outlet stores: black leather ($417), grey leather ($171), cognac (deep brown-purplish, $171), dark chocolate / brown suede and black suede ($171). The black suede ones are my last choice, which look more like velvet than leather. In addition, black suede or leather pants could be picky for boots in winter days, though they are stylish with pumps with no doubt. If you plan to buy these leather pants, you may want to consider the color and size carefully given they are finale sales.

These suede pants are versatile, in winter and spring… Thank you for your reading!

Happy Monday! Drop a quick hello. Share you couple pictures from the last Sunday. It was sunny and relatively warm. This is the look for grocery and a stroll in the mall.
Instead of pairing with flare leg jeans (style here), I paired this cropped vest with skinny jeans and wedge boots (same style in black here; grey here).

Rebecca Taylor studded quilted leather jacket & DVF fox fur vest: greetings from NJ

Greetings from Michelle and me, at NJ!
Michelle’s outfit

DL1961 angel ankle skinny (some styles have 20% off, this particular pair is true to size)
Stuart Weitzman boots
Celine mini luggage

I am happy to see this beautiful fox vest on Michelle,  very chic and cozy! It is a great day-to-night piece: pairing with jeans during the day, and with a dress at night. Borrow an online picture showing a night look~
It was $985, and is on sale at $354.60 in Saks Fifth Avenue. I bought a size L one for Michelle and ordered a size M one for myself (size P and xs were gone). Going up 2 sizes should be okay for this puffy short vest. I haven’t tried mine yet. Fingers crossed! The item number of this fur vest is 886115323575 (at Saks Fifth Avenue). In case the size M one doesn’t fit me, is anyone interested in this vest?

The mixture of studs, quilt and bordeaux color butter lamb leather gives this cropped jacket a perfect chic looking, with sweetness! I removed all leather pull tabs (on the zippers) which did not seem to fit the overall style. Personally I love simple, chic and sophisticated jackets, rather than too many western elements.

I bought this Rebecca Taylor leather jacket from Saks Fifth Avenue, with $286.80; is it a steal of a deal? It was originally $1195. For any of you who is interested in this leather jacket, the item number (saks fifth avenue) is 884092354339. I bought size s (one size up).

Thanksgiving shopping plan: Burberry Brit Quilted Down Puffer Jacket?

Hi all, are you ready for the holiday shopping? Were any plans made so far? When I talked to my girl-friends on phone, we all agreed to shop smartly this year. To avoid buying home things just because they are on sale, I did my pre-shopping ahead of time. Then on the holidays, I will only keep my eyes on the items I already picked and try my luck. Don’t let the crowd and price tags make you crazy! What is your holiday shopping strategy?

There are two items I picked so far and hopefully there is a good discount on these sale items on the black Friday!

#1. Burberry Brit Quilted Down Jacket, original price $895, sale at $537 now. I found it in Neiman Marcus (item number # 5045355285226). It is true to size (S/P on me). Same style at a different color is available in Nordstrom.

# 2. Vince leather crewneck jacket, original price $995 (Neiman Marcus online), on sale at $597 now (NM in store, item number # 822508004485). Size xs was not available in my local store, but I found size s okay too.

Do you think they worth the price? Last year Neiman Marcus offered an extra 20% off plus $50 gift card, and people predicted that they might do the similar thing this year. If so, should I keep them?

The reason I like Burberry coats is that they normally last many many years. The one I wore today, an orange winter coat with raccoon fur trim, was bought in 2005. Seven years later, it is still one of my favorite coats, and doesn’t look out of fashion. I like bright color coats in winter time, but maybe just couple of them are sufficient for my closet.

Banana Republic Tunic :: vacation tomorrow

We will leave for Boston tomorrow, a small vacation, escaping from a cold city to a colder one. But I am still very excited about the trip, so is Nathan.

Today is really cold, 25F in the morning when I shot these pictures….. I was literally shaking when I stood there without my down coat on.  BTW, I find that the size of Burberry solid cold cashmere scarf is much generous than its classic plaid one.  This blue one was bought in 2008. Although I don’t like its color (blueish), I like its touch and size.

I will post in Boston tomorrow 🙂

Opening Ceremony Black Pixel Plaid Flare Coat & Mulberry Alexa

The theme today is PLAID. I wore my Opening Ceremony plaid coat with Burberry plaid scarf. Will a solid color scarf be better with this coat?

For the details of this coat, see here.
